As a branding professional who worked with big brands, I thought it would be easy to put a website together for myself. However it has been a difficult journey figuring out my narrative and even a color palette that represents me and my work. Deciding to take myself on as a client has really given me more perspective on how precious it is to create an authentic feeling look for your professional brand. You want to look professional but not generic, you want it to be authentic but also look legitimate.
I started my self employment journey 6 years ago, before then I was still self employed but work was a bit less creative and impactful as I was also under an outside creative direction. I had been photographing since 2010 when I got my first professional camera and even before then, I always loved taking photos. Art has been my way of expression since I can remember, but finding my passion in design came after I realized that I love to create for function not only communication. Soon I was a font nerd and was freaking out about cool poster compositions and typography.
Many thanks to my first few clients who trusted in me and who were not afraid to throw more creative challenges my way and I'm proud to say that I still create for them. After 6 years of deep work and investing all my income back into gear I finally felt that I need to make this official. But I had been creating for others so long that I felt like I have no idea what represented me. After a lot of trial and errors and bad fonts later, I realized that I already put myself into all my work for others. The collage work, the photo that came together because all the stars aligned, the hours I spent with clients talking about their mission and their whys, I was secretly building my own library of things I love doing and slowly defining my own style. So after hating the website I built and the structure that didn't flow, one day it kind of started coming together and that day is today. It's still far from perfect but I can see it clearer now.
This Lilac purple has always been my color and my mom said it was my baby color. My work is deeply inspired by nature and I really enjoy print works so LEAF was almost an obvious name and for building a nice LEAF community it sounded like a good representation of togetherness. I picked Poppins as my modern bold sans serif font and Azeret Mono as my secondary font. As for the general feel, I am trying to take up more space in life so I tried to be a bit more spread out and have some nice breathing space. If you have read this far, thank you so much for your general interest in my artist journey. I hope to share more with you!
